How is it Christmas already?!

As we wind down for Christmas and look forward to 2022, let us take you on a whistle-stop tour of 2021.

In summary, it’s been a year of growth and change at Appt!

Our clients made the news

We were thrilled when ADL Smartcare’s LifeCurve app made BBC headlines! Their LifeCurve app helped 78-year-old Kathleen Hendry in Scotland and many others to stay active during the pandemic.

The long-awaited return of Sheffield Cathedral’s Christmas light show was also featured on BBC Look North just a few weeks ago.

It’s been wonderful to see our clients succeed this year, despite the challenges of COVID.

Newness all around

Let us count the ways…

We moved into new offices at Sheffield Tech Parks, we welcomed four new team members in the UK (hi Alex, Katy, Jonathan, and Max!) and we implemented new processes to make sure we’re as efficient as can be. Phew!

Joy, our managing director in China, got married! Whilst the UK team were incredibly sad not to attend, we enjoyed the many photos and videos of the happy couple. Congratulations!

New clients and projects

We’re excited to be working with the University of Sheffield, Centrica and Charles River Laboratories as we enter 2022, and looking forward to supporting these global enterprises as they make new headway both in the UK and in China.

In China, our team worked on several light installations at luxury malls across the country and we were thrilled to win work for the Welsh Embassy.

Amongst the UK highlights was developing a SaaS product for Dean at Behaviour Smart, a Sheffield-based behaviour consultant. The team had fun developing and testing ‘Tinder for student housing’ for Swi-Pad – if you know any students based in Leeds, tell them to download the Swi-Pad app!

Anna celebrated joining 42 under 42

Anna was recognised as one of 42 Yorkshire entrepreneurs and business leaders under 42 who should be on your radar in 2020. Unfortunately there was a pandemic…

Better late than never, she attended the Insider Yorkshire 42 under 42 Dinner this Autumn, celebrating with the class with the class of 2020 and 2021.

We launched the Comms Circle

Earlier this year, our digital comms team launched our new digital communications consultancy service, the Comms Circle.

We’re so excited to support businesses of all sizes and help them grow their online communities. Since joining the Comms Circle, indie game company Wayfarer Games have doubled their Discord community – well done!

We’re a High Technology Company

Appt China has gained national recognition as a High Technology Company for our contributions to the high technology sector.

As a high technology company, Appt China will continue to innovate and work on exciting new projects in China, using technology to make everyday life more efficient and connect new people.

We’ve supported good people doing good

Appt UK gives a percentage of our profits to good causes every year and 2021 was no exception. As we do every year, we’ve participated in the Sheffield Shoebox Appeal for the homeless and vulnerable across Sheffield.

We were delighted to receive an update from the orphanage in China whose menstrual hygiene project we’ve supported, saying that they’re hoping to roll out their menstrual hygiene course to 1000+ female students in the Henan province. Amazing!

We’re looking forward to 2022…

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes this Autumn, redeveloping and getting ready to relaunch Flytt!

Keep your eyes peeled…

Happy Christmas to our friends, clients, and collaborators – what a year 2021 has been! We hope you have a peaceful and restful Christmas with loved ones.
