SWI-PAD APP DEVELOPMENT

The Client: Swi-Pad was the creation of tech entrepreneur Fin Gregory and property lettings agent Ben Fairclough. The company wanted to simplify the student letting process by using an app to accommodate for the younger audience.

The Challenge:

Swi-Pad spotted a gap in the market for a mobile app that facilitates the letting process for a younger generation who had grown up with modern technology.

For this idea to work, they needed an app which could connect letting agents with students.

Furthermore, there needed to be a way for management at Swi-Pad to monitor the letting agents/users.

They needed developers to work with them to produce an app that incorporated all these elements successfully.

The Solution:

Appt worked closely with Swi-Pad to create a fully functioning, practical app.

By implementing a Tinder-like user interface, the app was accessible and familiar for students. The users could initially narrow their search based on location, price and the number of bedrooms. Students were then able to view property cards, which contained photos of the property and all other relevant property information.

Letting agents were able to manage their property listings through the management portal, where they could upload their properties. From here, agents could also communicate with student users who had any queries about their properties.

Swi-Pad themselves were able to manage and monitor both the students and letting agents using the app, through the management portal.

Appt also designed a modern website to work alongside the app, using the content management system Squarespace. Squarespace websites and sleek and responsive, and easy to manage. Appt worked closely with Swi-Pad to curate and design written and visual content.

Appt remained Swi-Pad’s development partner until the company made the decision to close down in December 2022.
